There are many existential questions that probably cannot be answered inside our frame of reference.
This limit may be:
- Biological, as for example a serpent cannot perceive many of the attributes of our world (even its offspring), no matter how hard it tries.
- A cognitive capacity issue of our current state of evolution. Enhancing our genes and developing larger brains might open new paths and reveal answers.
- Inherent/systemic, meaning that no entity, including future AI capabilities, can find the answer while being inside the system.
Hitting this limit feels like an honorable effort, it has a positive emotion of conquering, of finishing a game that couldn’t progress more than that. But on the other hand it feels like a quiz, a hard exercise that one wasn’t able to solve, resulting in a negative emotion at the same time.
Is there a method we can use so we know that we have hit the limit? Or is it just intuitive knowledge because of our inability to move forward?
Is there at least a way to grasp and define the nature of this limit? And map out its border/surface?
Is there some logic we can apply, that fits the essence of existence but not the phenomenal world?
