There are two types of emotions. The first category includes the regular everyday emotions of joy, sadness, etc. They are primitive and fundamental in humans and some other mammals.
The other category includes the higher emotions of bliss, awe, and the sublime, which are more neutral in terms of pleasure and pain. They depend on higher consciousness and insight; children and animals might not feel them. But do they use the same mechanism as regular emotions?
If not, can a nonliving system feel them?
If yes, could all living organisms potentially feel them?
Maybe they are a mix of primitive emotions and logic?
