When you go against your urges, instincts, inner animal, and society, not because of reactive impulses but due to rational judgement and intuition, you cease to be an intermediate connector of a chain. You can momentarily feel your god-like quality of freedom and choice.

The result might be somewhat destructive or more beneficial, either to society or to oneself. But this capacity is still the god-like quality, something that animals and machines cannot achieve (yet).

Someone needs to be content with being discontent. On the other hand, someone probably needs to be discontent with being content. Keeping this balance helps someone step out of the duality of pain/pleasure into the neutral bliss of understanding. This resonates with non-classical reasoning, transcending the base immediate/animal/emotional layer.
